If you are developing a new business or industry many states will offer a relocation benefit.

In Alaska we are paid to live here. It is part of the Alaska Permanent Fund, developed in the early days of oil development. It averages just over $1100.00 per person.

You must be a resident, and with stipulations and restrictions it takes a year to qualify; everyone must apply for the Fund every year.

Alaska does not pay you to move there. Once you are a citizen, there is no income tax and there is a profit sharing system from the oil revenues. However, costs are very high (a loaf of bread in Fairbanks can be $7.00), so you may not be any better off than moving to another income tax free state (like Texas or Nevada).

Alaska pays its population from an oil fund. You have to live in Alaska for a full calendar year before you are eligible... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14935745/
