Several possibilities I can think of based on the information you've provided

1. Changes have been made in your BIOS and each time your PC boots up its looking for a different drive (enter the BIOS and set drive detection to auto)

2. A new harddrive is installed and the above is not done

3. Chip creep = heat and cooling makes your connections become loose (disconnect what you can and reconnect them firmly - especially the drives)

4. Dust can reek havoc and cause 101 different faults. Use a vacuum cleanr to get whatever dust you can from the outside and use canned compressed air for the inside

5. Old computers or computers in unusual environments (i.e. hot or dusty) follow 3 & 4 and ensure your PC is in a place that maintains its temperature

6. Windows may be corrupt so you'll need to do a reinstallation NOTE: only reinstall if this fault is occuring AFTER the POST TEST (after 15 - 20 seconds)

The only reason may be that in BIOS , your master drive has not been selected as the MASTER BOOT DEVICE.

You can change that in BIOS settings.
