I love b-ball but the only problem is, I shoot with my left hand primarily and use the right of course as the guide hand. I tried many times very hard to change but even though I'm right handed and it's stronger, shooting with it doesn't have any power (you imagine trying to shoot with your guide hand and guiding with your shooting hand). It would seem like my coordination is off b/c of my footwork but it just works for me that way. Do I need to change or is it okay (and also is it normal)?

What you are doing is fine as long as you are shooting with good form. You need to have skills with both hands to pass and dribble and score layups, but, as a coach, I am not worried about your ability to shoot jumpers with a second hand as well as your normal one. Learning to shoot with your other hand would take too much time now that you are in season anyway. I did that this summer when I had a shoulder injury. It takes lots of time and I could only do stand-still shooting well with my left hand. I was not ready to play a game left handed.
It is all about good form, however, not the hand you chose as dominant.

The power from your shot should come primarily from your legs. Thus, using your off hand could actually have some advantages if you have sufficient coordination to accurately and consistently guide the ball. The shot should be a process of coiling the body and uncoiling with the arm, wrist and hand guiding the direction of the ball. You want to be accurate with the arm, not powerful. People who have very quick, strong active wrist flip shots are not consistent. It is a very difficult motion to repeat under pressure.

It is very normal. I'm in a similar situation, I am a right hander and if I am on a fast break I would prefer to lay it up with my left hand, just because I shoot it softer. but it is a good thing for you because it keeps your opponents guessing how do play defense on you. if they know that you are primary a lefty they will try to make you dribble to your right. Get good at what you are doing now, and you will be alright. its a good thing that your like this

I'm right handed, but it is more natural for me to box southpaw style which means I like power punching with my left and jabbing with my right. But I can also switch back and forth to confuse my opponent. Some batters in baseball can bat left or right handed. If your comfortable with shooting with your left hand, then go with it, but if you can learn to shoot from either hand, you are going to be a lot better basketball player.

shooting left handed makes u a better player because most people have a tendency to defend the right hand. so its an advantage.

i have a coach that shoots w/ his left hand but he primarily uses his right. just like u. its not normal but its perfectly fine. and its kind of a advantage because people cant figure u out right away. does that kid shoot w/ his left r does he use his right? thats what my coach did. it took coaches forever to figure him out.

There are lots of people who do what you're doing - and, yes, it's perfectly normal.
