The simple answer is that our whole system is stupid. Saw some real good examples recently:
development (??) of Delhi that another minister in the same government says “It will ruin Delhi”. And what does the representation of BJP in Delhi have to say about that?
“No one can stop us from coming to power”
Eh? Are the guidelines made to bring back BJP to power in Delhi? Or are they supposed to do something good for Delhi? I am confused.
I read an excellent article by Shekhar Gupta some time back on the so-called BJP leadership in Delhi. It was hilarious to read his prospective on the issue.
Now I heard another real cool thing. Supreme Court passed a ruling that no person with more than 2 kids will be eligible for a position in the village panchayats. This is so cool. NDTV people decided to imply the same thing on the India Parliament and found out if the same rule is applied on MPs, around 250 MPs will be deemed ineligible. Now that is an easy way to clean the mess we have at the center. At least, Mr. Vajpayee would be a happy man . There are many big names at the center who are doomed in that scenario. And the interesting thing is that the law that makes this possible is already in the parliament though buried somewhere for the last 10 years. Not surprising at all. Not surprising at all.

hey friends who all have answered this question must have more knowledge than me so what i wanna say is that India will b a developing country till our political system not get rid of corruption , cheat, etc. here our leaders just think of there selves and not of country and even not of the citizens that's the reason we r still developing . India have every thing but we r unable to manage the things in the right or the positive way. why our young generation is moving towards foreign because there they get the reward what they do and what is being done in India. students r getting seats on the basis of money power, muscle power etc so we all can see that the future of India is going to the darker side so India will remain a developing country. SO GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND US . TAKE CARE .BEST OF LUCK!

The biggest reason for this is the caste system prevailing in our country. People lack unity and are constantly looking for reasons to fight amongst each other (rather than anti social elements like terrorism).....what more...we have politicians who are least concerned about their nation.
For a country to develop the first and foremost necessity is to have a good law and order and its hard for us to achieve that we need to kill the corrupt person in each one of us.
thanx

If the prosperity of the nation is enjoyed by just 2% of it's populace, we have a long way to go still whatever the RBI might say.

We have progressed at a slow pace because:
1. we have been very slow in accepting the changing technology.
2. lack of political will.
3. colonial, corrupt and inefficient bureaucracy.
5. we ourselves who are not willing to change our mindsets - the most important.
