I have had constipation problems since I can remember, my mom said I got my first enema at about 6 months, I remember her telling I got them regularly all the way thru H.S. and after I left home I took laxatives for many years but in the last 10 years or so I have taking enemas instead, is that ok?

Sure, there isn't anything wrong with it. Way back they never had laxatives and enema's were quite common.

Your on the right path. But I would seriously find out why your having a constipation problem in the first place. Is your digestive tract not function properly? Are you missing some organs or glands? Or is your diet to blame. You need to do much more research. Its not a good idea to take laxatives on a regular basis. Your body will get lazy. And enemas too often will flush out needed nutrients. Start with the Nutrition Almanac then find more specific answers.

You can eat things high in sugar to promote looser stool. Such as fruits. I would also drink some Gatoraide if you do these sorts of things below, as your body could dehydrate otherwise. Then you would have more complications healthwise. BANANAS are GREAT because they also have Potasium, which helps to promote looser stools. And BY ALL MEANS buy you some SUPER HIGH FIBER cereal, often this will work without anything else!!!

You can buy a Fleet Enima from the local WalMart of Drug Store to use honey.

These are premeasured, as well as come with instructions.

I DO NOT recommend using them too frequently though, one every two weeks is safe.

I would also use Glycerine supositories at your local WalMart or Drug Store as well. These also come with dosing instructions, per your age.

You want to use the most NATURAL items you can, this helps not to destry your bodies fluids that you need to protect you against Bacteria. Placing an inema nozel into the anus repeatedly can cause Bateria to enter and grow in the anus, colon, and intestines.

No that is not ok. You have probably lost most of your rectal muscle tone. You need to find the cause of your constipation and work on correcting that. You will need to take a fiber supplement 2-3 times a day like metamucil, citrucel or benefiber. Increase your natural fiber and drink more water. Use a stool softener like Colace aka docusate 2-3 times a day. Try drinking prune juice or eating prunes if you like them. You will need to retrain your bowels by sitting on the toilet for about 5 minutes every day after you eat breakfast whether you have a BM or not to try to retrain your bowels. If you have not had a BM on your own by the third day then use a suppository but hopefully if you do all of the above you can retrain your bowels to work on their own if you the rectal muscles aren't too lax.

No. They destroy too much of your natural flora. Laxative overuse is not good either. You should first see your doctor to determine why you have chronic constipation problems. If not a physical reason bowel movements should be regular if you eat well, exercise, and consume enough water/fluids. And remember that not everyone has a daily bowel movement. Some people go 2 to 3 days.

I'm sorry, but none of this seems "okay" !!!! I've had this only twice in my life, & it was horrendous ! And you say your mother started this at the age of 6 months? Was it HER idea, or recommended by a doctor? And you got them regularly all the way thru H.S.??!! This could border on child abuse!

If you don't mind this (and I can't, in any way, believe anyone would do this to themselves, except in dire circumstances), you still need to see a medical doctor, at least to talk to about this. You could end up in serious condition, if you haven't already done major damage!

Good luck, stop putting things up your butt . . . AND GET TO A DOCTOR !!!!!!! (this is no joke!)

I guess it would depend somewhat on the problem. Have you tried using colace? It is not a laxative and doesn't make you go, but the way it was explained to me is (and it's kinda gross) "it lubes everything up enough so you can go." This was given to me after the birth of my son and helped me to get back on a "schedule.". Maybe you could use this long enough to get on your own schedule, and hopefully it will fix the problem. I will say it took a day or two to work and you have to drink water with it.

enemas now are extremely previous shaped and not in any respect used regularly. as we talk...you are able to eat a fiber cereal or take a scoop of metamucil in case you experience like you're stopped up. In truly extreme circumstances, definite, enemas are used. yet, even previously that, human beings might want to attempt a suppository...thats somewhat pill that is going into your butt and accomplishes an identical element. i might want to point you talk more effective on your well being care specialist...you gotta get more effective smooth such as your body and shortly you are able to have a baby...you gotta understand what variety of ailments are accessible and a thanks to address them, even no matter if it really is somewhat strange. And, re b/f gramdma...basically smile and tell her you'll cope with your "being pregnant issues" on your own and thank her. She is likely from an age even as it change into completely frequent for a grandmother to provide to do something like that.

No, it's a bad practice. Um, eat lots of fibre and fruit and veg and the likes and get a nice bit of exercise and I promise the problem will go. Cut down on processed foods like white bread, white rice, white flour etc- they've all got their fibre removed......
