I don't get it. What happened to this guy? He drops one of the greatest rap albums of all time (Reasonable Doubt) and then turns into a materialistic M.C. Hammer for 11 years..

Rap isn't the same anymore. It's all pop, club hits, and everyone talking about the same thing. Before songs made sense and told a story, now every song has to talk about money, cash, hoes, jewelry, cars, etc.. it's lame. Jay-z's old music is great, I love Renegade with Eminem, but his new stuff is whack. Too much pop in his music.

I think it happens in the entertainment field all the time. When the "hunger" leaves alot of the fire leaves too. Look at Eminem, his last two albums (that "re-up" mix tape nonsense especially) were awful. It's hard to rep the streets from the mansion in the gated community. That and anytime you can "phone it in" and it still goes platinum that lets rappers know that we'll buy crap. The best way to solve the problem of bad albums is to not buy them. Then they'll have to go back to the lab and tighten up.
