If it was a fair competition, then she would. Jennifer Hudson is NOT a supporting actress in that movie. She is definitely the lead of Dreamgirls. But the studio knew she would have no chance on winning Lead Actress up against greats like Helen Mirren and Judy Dench so they marketed her as supporting, knowing she would be able to win against the other newbies in that category.

Abigail Breslin's performance was amazing. She's got a lot of talent for someone so young. If this were truly a Supporting category, I think she would have every chance of winning.
