Yes. At the same time, consumers should be educated as to the contents and nutritional value (or lack thereof) of the products they are consuming.
I'm still lamenting the loss of the true McDonald's fries that were dipped in lard and sugar in the 70s. Now trans fats are being banned. I suppose the sale of super-sized meals may be banned in the future. I really don't eat fast food except on rare occasion.
The real issue is that fresh, healthy foods are difficult to purchase on a budget, so the population at a certain income level ends up buying fast food and suffering the negative health effects.

In America? Absolutely! And, if we weren't so spineless and upheld our founding father's intent, they should be able to serve Cocaine. No government has the right to dictate what an individual puts into his or her own body. EVER!!! Take back your freedom my friend. The government isn't your daddy. They shouldn't have the power to smack your hand and tell you no for actions that affect yourself. Smoking in public affects others, thereby infringing on their PERSONAL LIBERTY and PURSUIT of HAPPINESS.
Meaning. They can tell you not to punch a guy in the face, but feel free to beat the total living crap out of yourself!!!!
Grow up America!!!
And before some fool incabable of forming a logical argument attempts some childish back talk about how someone high might harm another, they are two seperate actions. The high man who harms another is no different from the sober man who harms another and both should be equally punished. Much like if you chose to drive a Yugo or a A-1 tank down the road (obvious exageration intentional folks...sub dump truck if you can't keep up) and your driving skills stink....well, then....it will be your fault and your responsibility when you hit another vehicle....if you chose the dump truck (pleasure or profession, irrelevant) knowing you can't drive....I think you get it. If not, go to church.

YES! People are born with free will. If they choose to eat those foods, that is not the fault of the restaurant. After all, if they stop serving those sizes, people could still just order two of the largest sizes that were available.
People need to learn how to become responsible for themselves and quit blaming their problems on other people. People are not fat because McDonald's serves supersized fries and Coke. They are fat because they choose to eat it. It is not fair to take it away from people who want to eat it and then choose to work out. I am the first to admit that I will supersize my combo meals. However, I choose to workout 5 days a week. I manage to have a great figure even though I eat terribly!

Absolutely. Actually the idea of "allowing" the distribution of safe food products is ridiculous. If a food is safe, a business has every right to serve such food. They don't have to ask permission. The government is not Mommy and Daddy to the food service industry. Its role is to insure that the food is safe, not unhealthy if abused.
Food related obesity is a choice. Just like addictions of every kind, food addictions are self-afflicted. There is no "disease" of food addiction. Nobody force feeds people the food offered at fast food restaurants. Just as nobody forces a junkie to shoot dope.

Yes. It should be the decision of the person which size they want. If you want a better question it should be fast food places should not be allowed to serve soft drinks and fries but that is not their decision what people should eat.

They should be allowed to serve whatever they want. We have to make the decision whether to buy or not. We can't let the government regulate everything and every choice we make.
We need to be able to make intelligent choices on our own. Fortunately, we live in a free country where we can do that.

It would be tempting to ban large soft drinks and fries, but i believe that people should be given choices and take responsibility for themselves. If they cannot control themselves, they'll find other ways of getting to junk food, even if it isn't served in fast food outlets.

I don't think that it should be up to the government or anyone else other than the fast food restaurant as to weather they are going to serve something in large or even super sized. It is not their fault if someone gets fat on their product, it is the dumb sh** who ate it and got fat. I also don't think that people should be allowed to sue someplace because their fat @$$ ate there alot and gained weight or had a heart attack. It is one thing to sue for bodily harm on their property such as falling and breaking your leg on a wet floor where there was no warning sign but not on something you chose to do to yourself. I am a large person and I have no one to blame but myself. Not McDonald's, Burger King or Taco Bell. It is all my fault. If someone wants to order a large fry or drink more power to them, they are the ones putting the calories in their body and no one is forcing them to gorge on fries or sugary drinks.

Yes it's not their fault that some people lack self control. I mean come on just because it's for sale doesn't mean you have to buy it. And before you say anything I enjoy fast food as much as the next person myself, I just think it's stupid to blame being fat on someone else allowing you to eat what you want.
