I just answered a question about a touching teacher- hands on shoulders, "min-hugs," etc. I know that there are people out there who are simply affectionate. As adults, they seek out hugs, are ok with holding hands with family members and other innocent touching... My 21-year-old brother is one, and I'm pretty darn sure he's not sexually perverted- he's still VLC!

So my question is- why do so many assume that someone who is simply tactile (is a "touch-er) is also a pervert?

In a nutshell - OVERKILL

So many unwanted, heinous and perveted things have happened in recent decades [children murdering children; pedophiles; etc] that society has swung the pendulum far to the other side and in my opinion has gone too far.

Even kindergarten children have been expelled for planting a sloppy kiss on the cheek of the another.

I am fortunate that as a child I did receive HEALTHY hugs from comforting teachers.

I think this attitude is specific to certain cultures and not to others. My society is a bit overprotective. Though it IS very important for children to learn boundaries.
