This might be a stupid question, but I just brought freeze-dried brine shrimp for my little Betta. On the label it says "for freshwater & marine fish". I know that Bettas are tropical fish...So I'm wondering if there's a difference between "marine" and "tropical"? Perhaps I'm over-thinking this one :)

Tropical referes to warm water fish as opposed to cold water so you can have tropical saltwater (think hawaii ) and tropical freshwater (think amazon river) as well as coldwater fresh (goldfish) and coldwater salt (lobsters at the restaurant -its a much harder to maintain setup)
your betta will love the shrimp but you might try frozen bloodworms they're even better

Fresh water usually refers to tropical fish and marine are the ones found in the ocean or saltwater fish. Your betta will love the brine shrimp. I use frozen. Have fun and have a great year.

I only want to add that you should use the brine shrimp as an extra food. Don't stop feeding flakes or pellets and just feeding the brine shrimp. The fish need the variety in their diet and just feeding the brine shrimp can cause digestive problems so feed the shrimp, the betta will love them, but only feed shrimp to them a few times a week.

Perfect food. Bettas are freshwater, not marine fish. Freshwater fish can be tropical, such as your betta,or cold waterfish like goldfish and koi. Male bettas are much more beautiful, byt Must be one to a tank.

She will LOVE THEM! However, I must say you should try the live ones (you can breed them in a soda bottle and have a never-endin supply for your fishy friends) THEY LOVE the thrill of the hunt! It's amazing to watch. But no matter what, they all love brine shrimp! Good choice! :)
