Since we are living in China we have to have 2 sets of names for boy and girl...although I am not sure how to put them all on the birth certificate.
English Girl:
Violet Indianna Mi
Chinese Girl:
Mi Mulan
English Boy:
Indiana Archer Mi
Chinese Boy:
Mi Xiao Fu

For those of you with questions about why I need 2 names is because I am American and my husband is Chinese from China...we live in China...and we will spend half of our time in the US and half in China. If I give only English names then his family and most Chinese people will not be able to pronounce the baby's name. But If I give only Chinese then most Americans will not be able to pronounce the baby's name...including my family.
And that's why...plus we don't really know where we will have the baby go to school yet.

Chinese famous people usually have english name which contains first name, and family name.. I think their english names are too long.. let's say, Violet Mi and Indiana Mi ( actually I like Archer more )..

Violet is cute. I'm not a huge fan of Indiana....but what's really important is that YOU like it. I like the Chinese girl's name, but the boy's name might be difficult for English speaker's to pronounce. Good luck to you!

I Know a girl that adopted from china she called her Mia, nobody had trouble with it. Also, Mulan everyone can pronounce.
I will try to find a name that you can use in both countries.
For a boy how about Park, in America you can call him Parker
Good Luck
Congratulations

Try combining both American and Chinese names so the child will have both and can access both in either culture...
I know someone who is from the Carribean Islands who married an African-American...their kids have three names, one American, one African and one Carribean name. It was nice how the kids can choose from these names.
