I have an alarm clock, and it wakes me up, but i press the snooze and go back to sleep for another 2 or 3 hours.

When i have work, i wake up and i go to work.
but when i have no reason to wake up, i simply don't wake up until i'm tired of sleeping...

Does any one know what i need to do in order to wake up and stay up? something to prevent me from going back to bed? how to i become a morning person?

The main thing here is do you have a reason to wake up early on these off days? If the answer is no , and you want to wake up for no reason then you will have to find one. Find something that you really like to do and plan on doing it early that day. As opposed to finding something that you have to do. I find myself letting my body dictate what time to wake up on the off days. This makes it better for not only planning the activities such as what time to shut down the night before, but also what time I want to get up the next day.
I find myself that I enjoy dreaming < One of my hobbies>
What the hell its as good as making candles or any onther hobbie. You may find more things to do the night brfore that keep you up later. Just do what makes you happy. Thats the most important thing... As long as your not sleeping due to drpression.
If thats the case see a Dr. I only play one on the internet...
The main thing as we all for the most part dont get enough sleep.
Do what makes you happy on your days off when , and while you can.
Myself I am a night Owl by nature. I plan my sleep based on what I have done the night before. Like stay up most of the night answering yahoo questions..
Anyways there is no rule that says
you must wake up a given time each day. I take my dreams seriously , and thank GOD for allowing me to enjoy them.
Long story short make yourself happy.

I too, am a night person. I find it helps to place the alarm clock in across the room so that I must get up to hit the snooze button. You can also leave yourself a big note by the clock that states "you promised you would get up."
Also, if you are keeping to late of hours, you will not be able to keep up a morning schedule for very long. Try going to bed 1/2 hr early each night until you reach your desired goal.

I learned something interesting from one website that I was reading when I realized I had a terrible problem with what you described. Basically, with this technique, you just wake up. Instead of debating with yourself weather to go back to sleep or not, you just wake up as if you don't have extra time to play-around or self-negotiate with. I realized that the very next morning I (the one person with the worst case of this problem) got up at 6:00 AM on a Saturday morning. Needless to say, I wasn't even tired the rest of that day.

It sounds like you just have no motivation.

You might want to consider a hobby of some sort. Find out what interests you, other than sleeping. If you are excited about it, you'll be eager to get out of bed. At the very least, get out of bed in the morning and take a shower and go for a walk.

I find that if I get too much sleep, I feel lazy and unmotivated the rest of the day.

Maybe you need a hobby! Something that you can't wait to wake up for! You can join a club, a gym, go to museums, the beach, the park, get a pet, go to the library, go thrift store shopping, antique shopping, learn a musical instrument...

Sleeping in one day a week a couple of extra hours is OK. If you are struggling with depression, maybe you need a pill and some therapy. If you have no energy maybe there is something medically or in your diet that needs addressing...

Maybe you are just simply too tired on your days off?
Try going to bed earlier or doing other relaxing things before bed so that you can have a deeper and more fulfilling sleep.

There are only a few ways to get up when you don't feel like it. One is to not debate it (as someone else said) When the alarm goes off THROW your covers off and get out of bed. It will be a shock and you will be tired but get up and get out of the room. Within a few minutes you will start to be properly awake.
The longer you lie there all cosy and comfortable you will be more likely to just slip back into sleep.

Another idea is to put your alarm far enough away from your bed so you need to get up and get pissed off in order to turn it off.
That's basically the same idea... get out of your comfy cosy bed, get out of your sleeping position and you'll find sleeping less desirable.

I also agree with the TV or music thing. I set my tv to go about 10 minutes before my alarm goes off. When i'm asleep the noise is distracting me a bit, getting me ready to wake up. Sometimes it even wakes me up.
You can put something annoying on like the news, where they constantly talk and repeat the same thing. Or maybe you find the news will catch your interest?
Find out what shows are on at that time of the morning and set it to that station. Once you start watching the show it will wake you up and you can get out of bed when it finishes.

Same general idea with music, something to wake you up. For the tv thing try setting it to go on but don't have the remote near you! GMTV can get me up and flying across the room in seconds.

i am not a lark either. i am basically an owl, a night owl and nocternal. i get up late when i have no plans for the day but if i had something to do that day, i get up early enough and get ready.

people are either larks or owls. there are people who love getting up early with the sunrise and somehow have energy in the mornings but wave off in the afternoons and early p.m.

some others get very active and alert later in the day and can stay up all night working, if need be.

i have tried for many years to change to being a morning person....sometimes i can do it for awhile but after a couple of days, i ware myself out and get sooooooo tired.

maybe it is genetic! it runs in families, actually.

It just takes getting used to. Next time you hear that alarm, don't press the snooze button. Get up when you hear it and take a walk outside. I do that every morning with my dog who sits outside my door expecting that I walk her, if not I play tennis or swim laps with my dad. Just have something to look forward to every morning and have somebody else to do it with you. Good luck!

Well I have the 2 answer, the second one works better but its not a good one,
OPTION 1
If have a TV or stereo in your room, and you have a control remote, just when alarm ring and you wake up, turn on the stereo a little bit loud and with good music, or put the TV on kind of loud..... If that dont work, go to the second option
OPTION 2.
When you wake up, start masturbating yourself, that works!

If you sleep earlier at night, you can be a morning person. My suggestion is to plan ahead your day and Psyche yourself into doing something that you really enjoy doing.

Think of something that you always wanted to do and stick with that new idea. Don't try to talk yourself out of it.
