My garage door stopped working. It will open but it won't close with the garage door opener. I can however close it from the inside by pressing the button manually. What's wrong with my garage door opener?

Try changing the battery in the remote first, if the button opens and closes the garage door, then the opener is fine.

It's hard to say without being there but...you need to check a couple of things. 1st check the wiring at the unit and make sure all wires are connected and secure. If all wires looked to be in good shape, look for the safety beams and make sure they are functioning. If they are, there could actually be something wrong on the circuit board. If this doesn't help (and I hope that it does!) then you could call a trusted overhead door company and just ask them if they could help. The brand or who installed it may be a good place to start.

if the remote can open the door but not close it, it is a photocell problem. i answered this same question in another thread. rather than copy and paste my long winded answer, i'll just refer you to the thread entitled :Why won't my Sears Craftsman garage door opener close with the remote?: hope this helps. but once again, just in case, check the alignment of your photocells. most of the time you will find something laying against them or one has been knocked crooked. with sears, both photocells should be lit.
