Dirty little secret about the media. I know because I have been a part of it. The media tells us what -isn't- happening.

By that I mean that something isn't news if it is going on constantly. The media isn't an information service or a history professor just gathering facts. The media wants you to tune in to see the latest, most exciting even. It is glorified gossip. People don't gossip about eating their cereal in the morning, unless there is a cockroach in it...what -doesn't- happen to most people.

But I don't think media create more violence. However, they can numb us. Watching hours and hours of shooting shows can make people think that shooting is an ordinary and not a terrible thing. But sitcoms can also make us think that everything always comes out all right.

The Internet allows us to have access to all kinds of media. Get good at using search engines to find the kind of info you would like to read, hear, and see. For instance, plug in the words "healing in Iraq" and see what you find.

That is exactly why they only show the fighting, they want the American population to believe that the war is wrong, they want them to think that nothing but death is being accomplished. Instead of relying on the media to tell you how things are why don't you write to a soldier over there and ask his opinion, you will be very surprised, they do not think like the average ignorant American, they see things for what they are, do not disrespect our soldiers by saying the war is pointless, they know better.

On a typical day in Iraq, 60+ people get murdered, many bombs go off and foreign armies (that is, the American and British occupation forces and the mercenaries who assist them) roam the Iraqi streets with machine guns, unanswerable to any Iraqi authority.

That is the main news event in Iraq, and has been for the last 4 years.

What should the media cover in Iraq - the ducks swimming in the Euphrates River?

It makes people realize that our country and others as well are at risk. If seeing it is what it takes to make people realize that our troops are fighting to protect our country--then so be it. My husband is one of the soldiers there--hunni--it's a really bad war and people need to know about it all the time.

Media communications always concentrate on the sensational! Dog biting man is lesser news than man biting dog! (a lesson in news writing!)

So the people will wake up...and remind the government this is our country and the majority of us do not approve of the war....instead of just worrying about your day to day life and wake up like they did in the 60's and 70's and demanded action

because its easier to show problems and also non partisan to show conflicts as well as politically correct to show hurt and anguish...if the world was focused on solving problems we all could possibly be happy ..and the powers that be are not interested in peace and happiness..besides these are the same corporate monsters that obtained power through slavery from free labor as well as other means ...sorry the answer couldnt be simpler but thats the way it is,,Hold the faith and pray 4 us all
