This past weekend, I was raped by a guy at a party. The term he used for it was "surprise sex", but to me it was still rape. He begged me not to press charges on him, and so far I haven't. I really don't know what to do. I feel really confused about the whole incident.

You need to tell someone close to you right away!! Yes, you should press charges, nobody should be able to get away w/raping you. Tell a family member, or your best friend.

I have been in a similar situation and you should definately press charges. People like that do not ever do it just once and are usually masters at manipulating your feelings. Don't let him guilt trip you into not pressing charges. It is not your fault. Even if you may have made a bad decision that placed you in the wrong place at the wrong time. Being there did not give him permission to do what he did to you. You should get to a doctor as soon as possible to get checked. Tell them about the rape so they can find any proof that may remain. If you have not taken a shower or anything yet, don't. That will help get you proof. And get to the police station to file a report as soon as possible to help your credibility. The longer you wait the more they question it.

YES YES YES....in fact, you should have already pressed charges. If you were raped, you should definetly press charges. You have to do the right thing and stand up for yourself and all the other women out there. Just make a report, tell the truth, and see where it goes. If you have any evidence, get it all together for the police. If there were any witnesses or people you told about the incident, tell the police about it. Also, I highly recommend that you see a counselor.

Talk to someone honey. I think that you should press charges, just because he doesnt want you to doesnt mean that you dont have to. Rape is rape. There are tons of rape crisis centers nationwide, talk to a professional who deals with this. Like I said, I think that you should. This guy needs to know that he cant go around doing this to girls.

did u also enjoy and have sex with him till the end then you feel guilty or feel being raped after that? if yes, that means you wasn't raped by that guy then. becoz you both wanted it.
did you refuse and struggle or even shout or ask for help or try anything? if yes, you have to press charges ASAP.
thats rape! yes, real man doesnt rape woman.

'Surprize sex', huh?
You could return the 'favor' with a 'surprize arrest'.

while i agree that you should press charges, you should have some way to prove that the rape actually took place,if you were drugged without your knowledge, or you have injuries caused by your vigorous self-defense these will help prove that the sex was not with your consent. by now all evidence of the physical contact, like body fluids would have been washed off.you will have a difficult time trying to prove rape.

Yes, you absolutely should press charges, that he actually has a cutesy term for brutal rape tells me that you might find out that you are not the first one he has done this to and tries to justify it to himself as something as something not "quite so bad". That is disgusting, he has no right to BEG you not to press charges, he took your dignity, he deserves NO pity. Don't blame yourself or take ANY responsibility, any one that can brutalize and over power any other person for their own satisfaction needs brought to responsibility and punishment for their actions. Good luck, honey, you gather your family and friends around you and get support and courage from them. My thoughts are with you.

ABSOLUTELY! I was raped twice and talked out of pressing charges (shame, lifestyle etc) and it took quite a bit of therapy to get past it (the hurt never goes away, but it becomes more distans)
