Depends on whether you have real musical talent or are another lame rockstar wannabe embracing the "alternative rock" sound.

In the entertainment biz, it's ALL about $$$$--something record execs last year lost a TON of in alternative rock and rap music projects. People are going retro, looking back to what worked--and record studio bosses are taking a real hard look at that, too.

If you and the band have talent--offering audiences a wide range of music styles and music textures (yes, this means creating new guitar sounds sometimes)--within a play list (or album list, a-hemmm), then you have something to work with. Next, comes the work at growing a fan base; the larger fanbase gathers the most attention.

Hey: record execs have both eyes AND ears. Can you REALLY rock, or should you pack it in? Your call, your choice. Choose wisely.

I would get a talent agent who can get your music heard by different record Labels. William Morris is the biggest but most costly.
