Everything even religions and all the power in this world today? Like the language we speak where we think we adapted it from. Proof of everything beyond reasonable doubt- because what proves everything is we never questioned anything the first time? the fact we still live the same way and prob always will is no one really cares to question life?
Well I asked myself what’s the meaning of life, and spent 5 hours on the net and dictionary- then English and the Greeks and I freaked out on I don't know what but somehow I thought I figured it out. I was convinced that the Catholics ruined our world and that they got away with it. Crazy right? I don't even know anything about the Catholic church? I really always figured it was nothing that big??

I typically stick to bashing the Mormon church in which I was forced to deal with until I left Salt Lake City...but I have done my own research here.
First we have to give Zoroaster some credit.
Zoroaster was the first person to come up with the idea of monotheism, he was never able to make it fly, but it was all his idea.

The Christian church...Catholic specifically...(this doesn't apply to the orient) did a lot of things. All the pagan holidays were changed. The number 13 used to be a significant and good number, so it had to have a new meaning. But pagans were horrible...they sacrificed animals right? Read a little about Abraham and Isaac in the Bible.

The Dark Ages were due to the church. 'If you really believe in God and are a good Christian and believe God will provide for you...why do you need to read?' So thus people didn't read to prevent being heretics. Monks were the only ones who were allowed to read...So, you could read only if you never spoke again.

Wait, back up. It is not just the church who was doing this...it was the people in power. The wealthy people. The people that NEEDED a way to control the general population especially during times of hardship to prevent a revolt. So, put the fear of the wrath of God hanging over the heads of the poor, and they will continue to work their hands until they bleed in hopes of having a great seat in heaven when they die. Betray the King...and you will burn in hell for eternity.

So politics is the real culprit.
The Catholic Church was the tool used to execute the plan to control the general population...and it was brilliant, not only did it control the people, but the people actually PAID to get threatened with burning in hell!!!

Sign me up!

So...if you scare the bejeezus out of the people, and promise salvation...you can financially screw them and pass laws that someone in their right frame of mind wouldn't agree with.

Hey, this almost sounds like current events.

Anyway, the way society works is that there is always someone trying to make their own life easier by controlling other people to do all the work for them. Sometimes they succeed. Some people would rather work and have all their decisions made for them.

Yeah, church is BIG BUSINESS!

So, don't just blame the Catholic church, if it wasn't them, it would have been someone else. If it wasn't a church, it would have been some other tool. But the question was...Why are we here right? Well, that question starts people to asking more questions.

More questions means more answers, a person with a lot of answers can challenge the decisions made by someone in authority. The person in authority fears losing the position of power, and cozy comfort with no effort. Thus:

Snuff it out with "God's will. PERIOD" Now go back to work or I'll burn you at the stake.

I think there are a lot of questions that need to be answered in each persons life. So the meaning of life for one person is going to be different than the meaning of life for another person. And I think each stage of your life has different meanings and different questions and different answers.

Why does it have meaning? You'll drive yourself nuts thinking about it...and you'll never really know...and I personally love driving myself nuts thinking about it. Now I just seem to trust that when I die, I hope to know the answer why.

Nah... I don't think Catholics had had any more influence over our Society- than Elvis had. Now you can argue that THAT was too much (& by the way, I never liked Elvis- even though I WAS brought up a Catholic), but our Country is such a diverse mixture of races, creeds & nationalities- it's really hard to blame any particular ONE as having any greater influence over all the rest. I notice that the Puritans take alot of "heat" for their impact on our countries development...-but there again, you can fault Ben Franklin for HIS capitalistic leanings -& start the debate all over again! Blaming Catholics, Elvis, the Puritans, Franklin, or "I'm not a tree.." -G.W.Bush, just doesn't hold water for very long...

look the catholic church is responsable for a lot of things that exist in todays civilization, like it is the one thing that held Europe together during the middle ages and stuff.
it was also responsible for the bad things like the inquisition.
but to say that it is the cause of your own identity crisis is kinda takin it too far.
maybe you should look into the catholic church and then judge it again
