Not ANY wave/frequency. You can not modulate a carrier frequency which is lower than than the modulation frequency.

Otherwise, The most common are audio modulation, and frequency modulation. There are a number of digital methods of modulation like frequency shift keying (FSK), phase shift keying (PSK) and many more.
