i am currently 38 1/2 weeks pregnant, up until my 36th i had only gotten acid reflux once in my hole pregnancy... well at 36 weeks i started getting it everyday... at night i would wake up the taste in my mouth... well ever since i hit 38 weeks (approx) i havent getting getting acid reflux but instead i have been getting HORRIBLE heartburn. it makes it hard for me to want to eat anything or drink anything for the fear of it burning.... i tryed milk and tums and everything, i have taked my max amount of tums for the day (which i feel bad about but cant help cause its so bad) but i just feel so icky, i got a bad tummy ache, im guessing from all the burning... i have had the burning litterally ALL day long. i know there isnt much i can do.. but other then milk and tums is there anything that might help it go away... if not completely then some what to where it doesnt burn so bad? should i talk to my doctor about this or is it something that would be normal...

my doc gave me something for the heartburn with my son. it helped a little, but all i can suggest is the normal stuff. and sleep with a pillow propped under you to keep you elevated. i know your not having "reflux" but it's suggested for heart burn too.

I suffer from acid reflux and GERD both major stomach problems... My doctor once told me if i felt really bad to toast bread and put something like cheese in it and eat it... Without butter... Everytime my stomach is upset i do that... The trick is that the bread sucks up all the acid that is too much and helps it down... And in my experience i am not allowed to drink milk it actually makes it worse... Hope this helps ;)

You just described one of the most common complaints of woman past 36 weeks of pregnancy. Ahhh the evils of heartburn! I'd call your doctor and ask if you can take something besides tums. Careful with taking too much though, it could make it worse.

Best you can do is talk to your doctor. I'm in my 39th week and I know exactly how you feel. It's normal, your lucky to have just started getting it, I've had it for what seems like this entire pregnancy.
