The politicians are checked at 3 levels-by the public, the bureaucrats and the judiciary. The Executive is checked at two levels-by the political masters and the judiciary. There is NO check on the judiciary. All power and NO problem. And, power corrupts. Doesn't absolute power corrupt absolutely?

That's a good point in a way. Federal judges are appointed for life, which makes getting rid of incompetent ones very difficult. For example Activist judges that bend and twist the constitution in states like California get slapped down by the Supreme Court all the time, but nothing changes.
I would pray for them, but they would probably have me arrested by the ACLU and put in prison. Someday they probably will block chaplains from prisons too since they are run by the state.

They are the 3 powerful arms of of the same Body-Politic known as Democracy. Though mostly independent of each other, still each is supposed to maintain a vigil over eachother's working to check none of them derives Absolute power. Having said all this, finally since all of them are manned by people like you and me, the character of their working depends on the Quality of the people comprising each with regards to background, education, status etc and the process of their selection. While the Executive and the Judiciary have well laid-down selection-processes, unfortunately the Legislature which is the most powerful arm has been hijacked by people who get elected mostly by extraneous-considerations of caste, class, region, religion etc. The quality of the Legislature has consequently suffered the most as most of it's members have to depend heavily on members of the Executive for their learn ed decisions and yet overrule them if it does not meet their vested-interests by which they got elected in the first place. Here, then comes the role of the Judiciary who if not extra-vigilant will allow the Legislatures to gain Absolute Powers to the detriment of peace and tranquillity of the whole nation. To conclude, let us not forget, there are blacksheeps even in the Executive and Judiciary who too should be weeded out following due process of established law of the land

In india, the politicians get into politics to make money. As a result after they get elected , they forget the rules, regs.,and behave in their own fashion.

The executives are mostly interested in strengthing their place in the society.so they even try to fall at these politicians.sometimes they work hard so that they make their resp. minister's name fly high even if the mins. dont treat them well!!!

and lastly the judiciary in india has lost its fame. i think this is because of the fault in the legislature only.

so, i think the judiciary compared to the 2 is better. & boos to the legislature!!!

The Judiciary was going to be under the legeslative, so the people would have more power. But we concluded that the Judiciary should be an equal branch to make sure the masses would not go crazy.

I think that judiciary is the best because it punishes the who are admitting crime, it also punishes the politicians without any partiality. I think that the legislature is the worst because it implements some laws which are one of the cause for terrorism.
