my question is: Why would anyone go to so much work to make everyone dislike them so much? To even put themselves at risk of jailtime or lawsuits? Why? What's in it for them? Are they just masochistic? Starved for attention? I just don't get it.

I'm gonna go with starved for attention. Also I think she has some homosexual feelings that she's trying sooo hard to supress. Some people just have to start fires. Why fuel the flames? If we'd all stop responding (and I'm guilty from time to time too) people like her might just get the hint and go away....I doubt it but it's worth a try.
