I have successfully shortlisted for the final management interview for an airline and i'm very confident that i'll be selected as a flight attendant but i am not sure if this is what i want to do for the following 5 years as stated in the contract.I am looking forward to be part of the professionals in this service industry but not so keen on the 5 years bond.
My parents are not so keen on me joining as FA but they say is all up to my decision. This really a setback because i don't want to disappoint my parents. My friends says a lot of people been dying to get the job and is not easy to get the FA career but since i've gotten the chance then go for it.
Please advise me especially parents with daughter as FA.I would really appreciate what parents will think about this.

The money's not bad, the opportunities after 5 years will be very good, and the travelling experience is fantastic! But it's the garbage you have to tolerate from the travellers that put a lot of people off and perhaps that's why your parents are reserved. In the end, though, if it's something you really want to do then go for it!

You should feel proud you at least made the final management interview stage, it's akin to being a top 10 football draft pick. But here's the rub and why this is gonna burn: FA is mainly suited for single folks.

FA's face long workdays--sometimes they're held overnight somewhere across the country or even overseas. Not good for your daughter who now rarely gets to see Mom. Parents with time demanding careers often see their children grow distant from them, their friendships with others are also affected....and the damaging long term effects can cause poor school grades and even worse personal character development. By the time they enter pre-teen or early adult-hood, the FA mom has a mess on their hands. Time demanding professions also can negatively impact marriages, too: something to wisely keep in mind.

Being a FA is great for swinging single Barbie: wild, mobile and ready for adventure--with no strings attached.

I can well understand how painful it can be to stand so close to achieving your life-long dream goal, only to call it off for the sake of your family. I've been there myself--and albeit true denying my dream was painful, I see it as being the right choice for my family's sake and happiness.

It sounds like a good career move. I don't know if your contract is binding, but if it is, so what? You shouldn't really be burned out in 5 years.

The downside is that you'll have to deal with difficult, self-important passengers who probably see you as nothing more than a "sky waitress" which is really sad. And you may be required to work long hours.

You have to weigh the pros and cons, despite the objections from your parents. If you are single without children, I don't see much holding you back. Good luck!

just check out what growth path ..they r offering...if it suits u ...join and if they r best in the industry...as contracts can be broken at anytime..either legally or illegally. If u don't feel working.........go late , don't respond, they will kick u out that moment only....contract is of no value...its only for the employer's as it makes them easy that even if u performing good...they can sack anytime.....not when u r not good for..so in my view join...then left
