I guess its not weird, but...anyway. I'm 6'3'' and I am attracted to short women (5'0''-5'2'' kinda range). The thing is, I don't want my sons to be short. I know, it sounds superficial, and maybe it is- but I don't want my son to come out 5'8'' or 5'9'' like the estimators say he will. Is it likely that instead of falling in the middle, he'll either take after me and be tall, or take after her and be short? I know height is a trait influenced by multiple genes, but more or less? Or are they going to most likely be short because of their small mother? Thanks.

Just because a tall guy marries a short woman does not mean that their kids will be short. I know a lot of tall guys that married relatively short women and there kids were 6'0 or taller. You never know what you kids will be like until you have them.

You get what you are blessed with. You can't predict whether your offspring will be short or tall. Take me for example. I was born with Panhypopituitarism (my pituitary gland doesn't secrete human growth hormone on it's own.) I had to take steroid shots for much of my life thus far just to get to 4'11 and 3/4 at age 19. Panhypopituitarism doesn't even run in my family but I somehow ended up with it. Do you think it makes me any less of a person to be of short stature? Why does it matter that I'm not as tall as the others my age? Exactly, it doesn't. No offense but people like you make me sick ... you put so much emphasis on superficial things like height and weight when there are people out there that can't even reproduce. Just hope for a healthy baby, that's the most important thing.

Well.. my best friend is 5'3'' and the father of her son was 6'2''.. her son is only 16 yrs old and just about to hit 6'1. This is really a gene thing.. how tall is your father and was his father tall and so on.. My husband is 5'10'' but he is the tallest out of all his family.. how funny. His mother is about 5'5'' and his father was about 5'8''. I am 5'6'' and my son is 5yrs old.. by the way he is growing.. the charts say that he may be over 6 foot. There is really no way of telling how tall they will be. I am sure you would love them anyway.. Right?? Good luck!

Each of us possess a multitude of genetic makeup from all the hundreds of generations that came before us. What we look like now is no guarantee of what our children will look like. If you know any kids that come from a large family take a good look and you will see a wide variety of characteristics.

If you marry a short lady it will increase the odds of you having short children but that is not a guarantee. Neither will marrying tall guarantee tall children. But it will increase the odds.

Good luck......

well, my cousin is 5'2" and her ex-fiance is 6'7". Their daughter is going to be about 6' by the time she is finished growing. I am 5'10" and my husband is 5'7", our son is going to take after the males in my family as he should be about 6' when he is finished growing. I have heard that at age 2 for boys if you take their height and double it that will be their adult height. My son is 3' at 24 months, that is how I figured his height.
