Western culture follows the "modernization" of society. Much of the technology and social patterns which make up what is defined as "modernization" were developed in the Western world.

Western culture is imposed on people during the last 300 years, the same way Islam and Christianity were imposed on people a thousand years ago. They used rewards, dirty tricks, punishments and entertainment.
1. Britishers ruled countries around the world. They said that the sun never set on British empire. They forced all the local people to abandon their native language, customs and dresses by refusing employment for those who wore local dresses. They refused admission to children to schools if they did not wear western dress, etc.
2. When the Spanish conquered other countries, they really were ruthless and cruel to the local people. They forced their religion, culture and dress to the local people. Those who did not cooperate were even killed.
3. The French, the Germans, the Portuguese and all did the almost the same thing. The present day, third world countries are those oppressed and suppressed by the strange and unwanted western culture.
4. At the present time, the multi marketing of consumer goods and Hollywood entertainment became readily and inexpensively available throughout the world. More western movies and TV programs are now available throughout the world. So the whole world thinks that this is the world standard.
5. And finally, Christian missionaries have gone around the world and destroyed the local culture and civilization to impose Christianity and western culture on them

The culture was not exactly imposed. Its a residue of capitalism, trade and imperialism. The norms and mores of any dominant culture tend to leave a ghost of its self where ever it passes. The west happened to become the dominant culture at a time when ideas, visual styles and life preferences travel fast. While it didn't really get going until after WW2, it began in earnest in the 17th cen. when Peter the Great brought the West to Russia However if you look at India for instance, you can see, hear, and taste lots of other Dominant cultures on their way through.Greeks, Moguls, Malays, Portuguese etc.
A mirror of your question. Should Arab Moslem's lay off imposing their culture on the rest of the Moslem world. I just noticed that everyone in Tehran and Cario is wearing Arab clothing. What happened to the Persian and Egyptian clothes. How do you think this came to be? I just noticed in London that everyone is not wearing western clothing. i wounder how that came to be. Not everyone in Texas is wearing a cowboy hat either. Some of them are wearing Birkas. I noticed that no one in Beijing is wearing those Chinese Mao suits, or those little ques down their back, what that about. They are wearing the clothing they design and manufacture, and sell to the west, while eating hamburgers when their parents dreamed of eating. Meanwhile India publishes more books in English than the whole rest of the English speaking world. Many more than in any of the "Native Languages" of the subcontinent.
Cultures go where they may, it flows, it not successfully imposed for long. but it sure does linger. Its one world. and somebody is on top for a time, but the world turns.

Western culture has a lot of capitolism. Thats why everyone bought into it. They were sold the culture, and now it's everywhere. Politically, I sort of wish it'd stay in the west. Just let people run their countries however they want.

This is the stupidest thing to say, sorry. Everyone in Europe blames US for everything: Iraq, fashion, emancipation, etc etc. Well, if you do not want to adopt this, then DO NOT. No one holds the gun to your head, saying: You must dress as Jlo...
