Okay well I have this teacher in college, and he touches people all the time, both guys and girls. He puts his hand on ur shoulder, while hes standing behind you. Or if he gets a real happy moment he might hug you and I get the feeling if I would hug him back he might cry with joy. But I don't. Other times this teacher acts kind of depressed and sad. Myu question is, why do some rare teachers do this (put their hand on you), while others teachers are so stiff and no personality that they barely look at u, let alone want to touch you? What kind of personality will cause a teacher to want to touch his/her students not in a sexual or provacatative way? But just in a warm way.

Touch caters to the sense of feel. It sends a viberation down the spine... Teachers are meant to modify the personality of the students and some human beings, realising the importance of touch, uses this asset to convey a feeling, be it positve or negative. If its a positive vibe it does good, otherwise, it imparts disgust.. well in your situation Im sure, that your teacher is very emotional and also a lonely personality even perhaps an introvert, thus by physical contact with others he is seeking that little comfort feeling which he misses in life. Delving down deep into a human psyche, its a touch that plays a most important role in comfort, for eg, if some one crying is held close or hugged dont they feel an uncanny sensation of love, care, friendliness, a sense of sharing? Similarly your teacher unconsciously seeks solace and understanding and love from his students or other contacts.. My friend, we are all lonely at heart, even when we are surrounded by a legion, or an entire party.

Everyone need physical touch, and it is a very good way to connect with a person in a way beyond words. It sounds like your teacher is deprived of touch in his personal life, and he's not being a sexual creep, he just really needs more human touch! It's so healthy and important. On the other end of the spectrum, people who are afraid to touch others at all will come off as far too cold and you may not connect with them as much, and you might not even get as much out of their lessons! This fear of touch probably comes from a fear of being "inappropriate".

The teachers that have lives and aren't zombified into the education profession are the ones who have personalities. The other ones have just been in education for too long. They need a wake up call. Some of those people who have been in education for a while can seem like they're so much older than they really are.

oh just WONDERFUL - now we've got teachers touching students in NON-sexual ways...I wonder how the courts are going to wrap their heads around THIS problem.
The teacher who touches you is probably well-rounded. (in a non-sexual way, of course.)
The ones who aren't are suffering from this society's lack of interpersonal affection.
