Because if you believe in God, you already have the answer to that question, but to clarify, dogs don't have souls, only humans do. God didn't even give them to angels that is why they envy us and some despise us. Animals do not have souls and never will. Does that make them unimportant? Of course not!!! Animals (dogs) are apart of our lives and without them, our lives would not be as great. Dogs have saved a humans butt more times then are accounted for, but dogs will never hold a soul.

Because some people have no respect or understanding of animals. They feel that humans are the top of the food chain, so we are above everything. This is so untrue. There are many species who are smarter then man in so many ways.
Only mankind has the arrogance to think that he is the centre of the universe!

Man is created in the image of God - not a superiority complex at all - just a fact of life. God didn't create dogs in His image and it's obvious they are not capable of higher level brain activity such as abstract reasoning.

do you mean it how my friends, with whom i have wonderful debates and arguments with, mean this? we discuss heaven. the husband says that man is created in the image of g-d. whereas i argue back to him that all of life must be in the image of g-d, if there is g-d. at least, all of life has a beauty to it, an indivuality, a uniqueness, that makes me think that any living creature is equal to human beings in the essence of living, of having been born, of going towards death. i even think that the life of a star is equal to the life of your dog or to my life. yes, it sounds sort of strange, but then again, i've been a rebel all my life...
