Hey ballerinagirl!
Just stick to the 8x10.

In the book How to be a Working Actor it says:

"You will need a supply of 9x12" manila or colored envelopes with a flat cardboard insert. You don't want the post office to crumple your picture along with the rest of the mail. Always write "Photographs. Please Do Not Bend" on the envelope.

With each photo and resume include a cover letter. This is a short note introducing yourself. Keep it simple. Mention the name of the person who may have suggested that you contact the agent or casting director and request an appointment. Now is the time to use every connection you have: parents, relatives, mutual Friends, acting teachers, your college alumni. But do make sure your referral is legitimate. You're trying to establish credibility, remember."

Before you send them out I really think you should read this book. For anyone that wants to work as an actor it is a must!
Remember:

NEVER GIVE UP! ! !

Good Luck! Let me know how it goes!

You need 8 x 10 B&W head shots
and Wallet Size Color pictures for Extra work

Central Casting, for examples, likes Color Wallets

8x10 only. And the industry uses color now, not black and white.

The best way to get an agent is to get work for yourself. Do local theater and student films. Talk to other actors and directors.

When you find someone who already has an agent, and respects your work as an actor, ask them to give your headshot and resume to their agent.
