The antonym of mercenary IS soldier.
A mercenary is a person who fights for pay and not much other reason.
A soldier is a person who fights for their country or ideology and while they might get paid, it is usually modest and long term rather than high and short term.
When someone is called a mercenary soldier it is an insult - that they take loot or otherwise try to use their position for financial gain.
