sure, as long as you don't care that no one else can get a hold of you through the phone line.

Yes. However I would look for a download manager that saves your downloads in chunks, in case you get disconnected, this way you won't have to start from scratch again. Maybe someone out there can recommend a good, free download manager. Chow

It will be completely fine. I used to do it myself and had no problems. Although depending on your provider they might disconnect you if you are idle for too long, but i don't expect that should be a problem with the majority of ISPs. Have fun, and get dsl sometime soon, bud.

I do it all the time, so ...well actually I have no clue if it's good or not. I just do it all the time. It could be bad, if so, then I'm screwed.
They not have DSL or any kind of broadband in your area?? or you just too lazy to get broadband??
I have dial up, cause that's all you can get in my area.

Its OK, except that you will not be able to use your phone to call out, neither can anyone call you during the time you are downloading.

It is very risky as outsider may intrude to your system unless you have a super solid firewall. You may prone to phone jacking also.

Its better NOT to shut your pc off. I leave mine on all the time and reboot once in a while. Shutting it off and on every day actually wears it out faster.
If you dont mind not having the phone available it doesnt matter.
