Items on eBay are probably not going to give you much profit upon resell.
I would suggest websites like www.craigslist.org, and search for items that are really cheap - sometimes people just WANT to sell, and don't mind letting it go for real cheap. particularly those who are moving from a house to apartment, or those moving to anohter city/state, or those divorcing.
Garage sales and neighborhood sales are also good for picking up bargains for reselling from eBay.
I find that household knick-knacks, like decorative items, wall pictures, etc, can be purchased real cheap at garage sales, flea markets, etc, and sold for a reasonable profit on eBay. If someone likes it, they will pay for it.

buy new or used overalls for little girls. embellish them and they resell for a fortune. the trick is you have to have taste. some people try to hot glue lace or something tacky. look at which ones get the big $$$.

Don't go with ebay for your inventory. The shipping fees are so exorbitant that you'll have no profit margin after.
