Cocaine is a plant/drug as well, it comes from the Coca plant.
The definition of a drug is:
A substance that has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.
And thus, because weed makes you feel different, it is a drug.

Sure it's just a plant. And opium just comes from a plant too. Dude, weed is a drug and you know it. I agree that it shouldn't be illegal. If you want to fry your brains, then that's up to you. But if you choose that route, you shouldn't expect society to pay the bills and pick up the pieces when you move from weed to crack and can no longer operate as a human being.

You are right it is a plant. So are a lot of poisonous plants that are made into deadly drugs, including those which are used to kill people.
What is your point exactly? That plants can't be bad for you? Go ahead and make some hemlock tea and see how that makes you feel, until you die because it's poison.
Poppys are plants and deadly when made into Heroin... where does it stop, does it become Ok just because it grows?

How can you outlaw a plant?
If marijuana were legal, anyone could just grow it and cure themselves of probably any number of diseases, ailments, and even mental problems. That wouldn't be very good for our big greedy drug companies now, would it? It needs to be illegal so these idiots can continue to be controlled by corporations. And no, I do not get high.

Weed got its name mostly because it grows wild in some places like Kentucky. As for the legal reasons, that could take an hour to explain.

wow thanks for that earth shattering news houseofmizzi, i dont think anyone knew it was illegal in usa, btw its not as bad as you think.... and yes weed is a plant, but the cannibinoids that are present in the biological makeup of the plant induce a high, thus giving the plant its label as a drug. legalize it!

yes dear, its a plant, but its also a drug. drugs are in some plants. pharmaceutical drugs are often derived from original plant compounds. opium comes from plants. cocaine comes from plants. paoti (sp)is part of a plant. and yes, marijuana is a plant which contains the drug/compound tetrahydracanabinol (THC)

Does it not have to do with the fact of clasification the goverment puts on it as it effect on people and it is considered a requlated substance. under food drug act

because here it is an illegal drug even though its still a plant. but it causes a lot of health problems and and can cause traffic accidents etc.
