My boyfriend and I have decided to get married. We purchased a set of wedding bands last weekend. Howeve there has not yet been an official proposal. I referred to him as my "fiance" today when I spoke with someone at the jewelry store. Now he keeps teasing saying I have to ask him to marry me instead of him doing the proposal. I want him to ask. I'm a bit partial to doing things the old fashioned way. Any interesting comments or opinions?

Well maybe the dude was joking around and thinks nothing of it by saying you have to ask him. Just talk to him about and see if he's really serious..and let him know that you are really upset about it. I mean you're upset enough to ask for peoples advice online.

I mean you have to sit sown with him and tell him how you want this to be and if he really loves you he'll do it the way you want.Just to see you happy !!!!!!

This sort of happened with me and my now-husband. The engagement ring was purchased (with my full knowledge) before any official proposal took place. I always regret that it happened this way, as there was never any surprise or climatic moment when he asked me because I knew it was coming... It was like, why even bother with asking when I know it's coming and you know I'll say yes? Just give me the ring already and let's shake on it! LOL

With that said, I think maybe you should do the asking, just to shake things up a bit.

Wait for him to ask you, my husband and I had a similar experience and I still hear about it 9 years later. If you like old fashioned then do it that way. Why would you get a ring before the proposal?

Well who has the bands? Who paid for these bands?
If you have the bands then you ask but if you really want it to be the old fashion way just wait. I'm sure he's just waiting for the right time.

I think you should ask him when he is going to ask you to marry him. If you two already have a set of wedding bands, why is he hesitating? There should also be a set date too. Ask him about that. You just need to talk to him to make sure if he is ready for marriage.

Your are correct. Let him ask you. Let him be the chaser. That is the way God designed relationships. Besides, you do not want to ask, him get married, and wonder for the rest of your life if he really wanted to marry you or was it assumed. Tell him, you want him to ask if he wants to, if not then wait.

I asked my husband. If you're only a BIT partial to the standard, why not ask?

weird. I would never propose to a man. He should plan something wonderful for you and propose. DON'T DO IT. You will regret it.

Then go for it and ask him... Just get down on your knee and propose to him and say what comes to mind:)
