Plants grow faster with more CO2, but they need water too. Photosynthesis in a nutshell is 6 CO2 + 6 H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6 O2. Weather is the earth's way of distributing energy. If there is more energy (heat) there will be more weather. One of the key predictions of the global climatic models is that global warming will alter atmospheric and oceanic circulation patterns leading to changes in precipitation patterns. That prediction is solid. The details of what the changes might be become less certain as the scale decreases. The average weather over North America can be predicted with greater certainly than the average weather in Denver. In North America, the climate zones are expected to shift north. This is bad news for the grain belt in the US because less rain is expected so yields will decline without increased irrigation or new drought resistant crops. The grain belt will expand northward in Canada, but the soil is not suitable further north. You can't grow wheat on granite bedrock. I think/hope that we will be able to grow enough food for ourselves in Canada and the US, but exports will likely decline (and people will starve elsewhere).

global warming is a misleading term. the warming up of the planet will cause fertile areas to become dry, and other areas who are used to mild winters to have freak cold spells like you just had in California, but I am sure you think I am talking utter rubbish, so have a nice day and enjoy your $ 2.- oranges while you still can.
