in the phrase " tall, dark, and handsome" what does the dark part stand for ? does it stand for dark hair ? dark soul ? dark skin ? dark personality ? i could never figure this out .

In my opinion dark stands for the color of skin. Sometimes someone darker than yourself attracts a girl. Dumb example who looks better a extra pale skin girl or a nice tan girl. The tan girl.

This is an old saying, it just means you want someone who's taller than you, and has DARK HAIR, and is good looking. It has NOTHING to do with skin tone! When this saying came about, people didn't worry about how good your tan was, they were'nt so superficial then.

the word dark in the phrase stands for the man personality. the actor back in the day like rock hudson, carey grant, robert mitchem and gene kelly had that kinda deep voice and that look like oh my he got something with him and yet you know it might be something bad but you have to find out. you know msyterious yet hard to resist.
