The perfect tube top dress is litterally, a tuve, cut a dress that is made of stretch material and make it two sizes to small for you-but not bustable, you still want it to remain sewn together after you put it on. You want to make sure that even if you got some clevage that the top of you dress is flat, and somewhat high to help it stay up, also, NO low cut backs. This is what makes the tube top part roll down. Make sure it stays tight and secure...
and dont forget to wear a strapless bra! lol

To make the stretchy top part of a tube top dress is so not worth it. I just buy the ready-made tube top and then sew onto it whatever fabric I want to form the skirt. Be sure you stretch out the bottom of the tube top as you sew the skirt fabric to it. That way, it will form natural gathers when you're finished and the elastic of the tube part contracts. Also, it needs some fullness to either fit over your head or your hips so you can get into it. : )
Be sure you sew the side edges of the skirt part together first. After you've sewn the top to the skirt, hem it and you have yourself a unique one of a kind dress!!
Good luck!! I've made a lot of these and they're easy to make and fun to wear. Be sure the skirt fabric is machine washable like the tube top, though.

go 2 the rag shop or fabric store there r many nice pattern in the books and stores out there. nice 2 make something for urself also

Go to the fabric store and get elastic. get enough to go around your chest. fold over the fabric over the elastic, and where ever else you want it tight. better yet, just go buy a top its a lot cheaper. you can do to dots, rainbow or where ever. heck go to good will
