can't get paid on youtube ........you can only get paid if your video is very Popular and a company wants to use it for advert.

Copyright protection subsists from the time the work is created in fixed form. The copyright in the work of authorship immediately becomes the property of the author who created the work. Only the author or those deriving their rights through the author can rightfully claim copyright.

That was directly from the US copyright office website. However, if you post your work on a free domain such as youtube, you are essentially giving away your work. It is still your work, and you can still copyright your work, however you will not make any money on youtube.

By placing a video on Youtube you give up all rights to have a copyright placed on that video. Youtube viewers are always able to view the videos for free.
