Next to Catherine Zeta Jones, nothing is more lovely than the word FREE....espicially on the Internet. And as far as free anti-virus/anti-spyware goes, I find the following (complete with links) to be useful and FREE.

Anti-virus freeware--bar none try AVG. Unlike the popular anti-virus scanners, updates are free and can be automatically done if PC is kept on and online overnight. AVG warns the user in REAL TIME the second a potential virus attempts entry and quickly either removes the nasty or locks it up in a safe "virus vault". You have to look closely for this download, but it's there at www.grisoft.com

Ad-Aware SE is OK--if you can get it to run smoothly on Windows XP. www.lavasoft.com

Do a Google search for Spybot Search N' Destroy. This classic anti-spyware scanner impresses me to this day. Updates are somewhat tricky, but you'll soon discover which mirror site will allow updates. Spybot SND also carries links to Spyware Blaster--an excellent assistant scanner seeking spyware nasties.

Also give Crap Cleaner at try: the basic Cleaner feature runs quite well and does about 4 safe clean-ups with one click. The "advanced" features are recommended for IT pros only. www.ccleaner.com

Here are some of the things I take for lunch. Salad with chicken, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries and mandarin oranges with poppy seed dressing. Salad with artichoke hearts, pimento and parmesan cheese. I add ropey provel cheese but that's a St. Louis thing so you've probably never seen it before. Veggie salad using whatever vegetables you like. I'd use cauliflower, zucchini and yellow squash, black beans an a sweet Italian dressing like Zia's. Pasta salad with salami or ham Roast beef or turkey with jellied cranberry sauce on a whole wheat bagel. Sandwiches don't have to be boring. Use cucumbers instead of pickles and spinach leaves instead of lettuce. Use your imagination. Cheese sticks and raw vegetables with some ranch dressing for dip, and bread sticks Hard boiled eggs and raw veggies and grapes Babybel cheese, sausage, an apple and some bread or crackers Pack your lunch in an insulated bag with one of those blue ice things. Sometimes I go to the deli at the grocery store near my office and get some crab salad. I keep crackers in my desk. I make soup or vegetarian chili a few times a month, and I heat it in the microwave, but you can get a thermos that will help things warm and wrap it in foil too. My very picky son took Lipton's Cup of Soup and Babybel cheese for lunch every day of first grade. They couldn't heat things, so I just made sure to heat the thermos first with hot water, then wrap the whole thing in foil.
