I get it every once in a while, too, but I can never remember "what happens next" so it's basically useless. (-: Why don't we ever get deja vu about winning lottery numbers, or even that a boyfriend is a louse? It's always something like a simple conversation with a co-worker, or walking along a particular road and feeling that I "remember" it.
It sounds like yours is different. You can play with it a little, if it happens regularly. I always feel slightly freaked out about it, too, but I'm not sure why. I always deja vu about such boring stuff.
I'm inclined to believe that it is a glitch in the brain -- that maybe somehow something that was supposed to be stored in short-term memory accidentally gets stored in long-term memory, and we think we're remembering a dream. I suppose keeping a dream diary would help sort that out.
As for yours, maybe you have real psychic powers -- or maybe you are predicting from the circumstances, and it gets stored in the wrong memory banks. It won't hurt to test it and play with it a little. Have fun!

The experience of déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eeriness", "strangeness", or "weirdness". The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience "genuinely happened" in the past. Déjà vu has been described as "Remembering the future."

Deja Vu, is when you do something or are somewhere and you feel like you have done or been there before, you may even know where everything is, but yet you were never there or never did what feels like you did. Premonition is when you can tell when something is going to happen before it does. They are totally different. You could be experiencing both.

deja vu, false memory. From French "already seen." Happens when your subconscious works quicker than conscious, i.e., you hear/see/feel something and do not know that you do, so quickly it happens, then you recognize it as happening, and feel as if you experienced the thing before.
There are several types: Déjà vécu (already seen), Déjà senti (already felt), Déjà visité (already visited). But it is just a false feeling.
Usually people can not remember anything from the "previous" experience but the fact that they felt it before.

Daja Vu happens when god thought something was so funny he had to replay it for his friends..
Seriously though, I would look into precognition, thats more of what sounds like is happening!! I too have cases of precognition! It makes certain things more interesting!

Deja Vu, as it was explained to me:
Deja Vu what happens when one side of the brain processes visual input slightly faster than the other side, by the time the lagging side sees / processes what is seen, the other side of the brain has already stored that information as a memory. *poof*.
Deja Vu.
