in the background of any situation?

I sometimes put the tv on low while I am doing other things (bills, eating, playing with the baby, cleaning, etc.)
If I am on the computer I have a clock that tick-tocks (sort of loud) over my left shoulder and enjoy hearing that when there is no one else awake to break the dead silence.

Only music because something needs to motivate me to keep moving to get things done.

sometimes. Most of the time it keeps me focused, if it's too quiet i can't work, too loud i can't work. but if it's just a clock ticking then that just drives me crazy, i tick-tock along in my head. usually just some nice music turned down to like backround music volume not much.

No that does not answer your question, but with the left I can still ear all the other things you typed of, and yes I do enjoy it.

Yeah, it helps me a lot, especially if I'm alone doing something, when you have this "white noise" you feel you have company, someone to support what you are doing.
