Open the admin page on your router. To to this, you need to be hardwire connected to your router (not connected wirelessly). Depending upon the brand of your router, then you'll need to open your internet browser to an address like http://192.168.1.1 to get to the admin page (the exact IP address can be found in your router documentation, or on the vendor's web site in the support section). You should hopefully have the administrator user ID and password. If you've never been in the administrator page before, the default user ID is usually admin with a blank password.

Then, look for the security section in your admin setup. You'll want to enable WPA, and provide a character string to use as the password (the encryption key). Click OK or Accept or whatever it is that it take to save the info.

When you try to connect your wireless computers, you'll need to enter the same password string to enable the connection.

How about the logon password? If you aren't seeing the logon password, configure Windows XP to prompt for one: Click Start, Control Panel and then double-click User Accounts. Click Change the Way Users Log On or Off. Then select the Use the Welcome Screen for Fast and Easy Logon check box. If you want to prompt for a password before Windows XP starts, I don't have a solution.
