your 20% will be about $2000, but greatly depends on the hospital and whether there are any complications or not. Cesarians tend to cost more due to the extra hospital stay.

I have BlueCrossBlueShield of Alabama, and they covered it at 80% after my deductible was paid for both the year and the hospital ($500 for the year, and $200 for hospital). With my Ob-Gyn, he charged $2,400 for vaginal and $2,900 for C-section. However, I only ended up paying him $780 after insurance took care of their 80%. After the hospital deductible, they paid for 100% of the room and such. Now, don't be surprised if other expenses pop up. I had to pay for the anesthesiologist, the in-hospital pediatrician, the ear-nose-throat doctor who looked my son over, the doctor who circumcised my son, and for this special bed they had to bring to my home to help with my son's jaundice. Insurance haggled them down on the bills for most of them but did not pay the $200 for the bed. My husband and I ended up paying around $2,200 by the time all the bills stopped coming.

honestly it just depends... i have aetna, and they are covering 85% but for some reason the only things i have had to pay is my co pay, and that was only 2 times... then i had to pay another 25 bucks. but my doctors office doesnt charge me for every little thing, most the time they dont charge me unless i have an ultrasound or blood work. the maternity is covered by 100% so i might be lucky with that. my sister in law had no insurance when she had her last baby and she ended with the grand total of 12,000. good luck though :)

well im not sure what state you live in, but im in AZ and over here we have an insurence plan called AHCCCS- it takes care of ALL the medical expenses. including prenatal vitamins. cuz you dont want to have to pay for the hospital bills... for a normal delivery it usually runs about $11,000, thats only a 1 day stay if everything goes well.

Cost for pregancy delivery ranges from $6800 to $18,500 depending upon how complicated the delivery is (natural vs. Caesarean, for example). So you should expect to pay somewhere between $1300 and $3700.

health care for pregnancy is government supported here in New Zealand. its a shame that public doctors and hospitals, midwives and scans arent free to you.
