24,901 miles is the circumfrence of the earth. I would guess the answer to your question is related to that. Although differing by 11 miles, it seems too close to be incorrect.

If it's in French, 24,912 miles is equivalent to 25 miles (rounded off) because a comma is used instead of a decimal point.
If it's in English it means twenty four thousand thousand nine hundred and twelve miles.
