It has been proven that if you give a poor person 5,000 dollars they will spend it very quickly.. The reason they will do so is the same reason you get rid of your money.. it is a mentality. The cause of your doing what you do is that you are not use to having money left over.. You, like a lot of other people, are used to the struggle. It is a common malady..people are so used to having to struggle to make their money go far enough are just flat mentally hooked on the struggle... you can't get used to having extra money so you spend it then you don't have to worry about it.. it is something that you can overcome but you really have to work at it.. next time you have extra money..go buy a self help book on the subject.. it will be a good investment for you.. good luck

You might try to understand what money means to you. Do you feel guilty for having it, and spend it so you won't have it? Do you only feel alive when you are on the edge? What would it be like to feel comfortable?
Also, what do you spend it on? Do you feel inadequate unless you purchase certain products? Have you ever noticed times when you DIDN'T spend, and still felt ok?

Set yourself limits on what you can spend for fun. Learn the difference in what you NEED and what you WANT. Take care of your needs first... then what you have left... spend on what you want. Include some stashed away in a savings account in your NEED budget.

You need to sit down with a financial adviser and work out a budget. What would happen if you lost your job or had a serious illness? Where would you get funds? Your lifestyle is going to catch up with you and it will be disastrous when it does.

set up two or three different bank accounts.
use one for savings, one for bill paying, and the other for free money.
only put what you should spend into your "free money" account and budget it out and make sure you don't spend any more than what's in that account.

First of all, when referring to yourself, capatalize the word "I". It has to do with your self esteem. If you have an unlimited source of income, why do you care how you spend it? If you have limited resources, the problem will take care of itself in due time.
