everything would be thrown out of the world

It would be the end of the world as we know it. Ocean current patterns would change, and the result would be climatic changes . there would be no day or night since the planet would not rotate. I think there would be a major problem with the planet continuing to follow its standard rotation around the sun. I also think it would be an indicator that the molten core of the planet has cooled down. The propective layer of the magnetic field would not exist, consequently the atmosphere would eventually be stripped away by the sun's x rays/ photons. Lets leave it at this. The planet would continue to be around, but we and most all other large animals would be dead or going extinct.

1. I thnk it would affect gravity to some extent.
2. When a full half of the world becomes dark for months vegetation would die out
3. Tides would be affected.
4. The rotation probably affects the weather and wind patterns as well so that would change.
5. Theoretically speaking the core of the planet which is molten would stop spinning as well. I don't know what would happen if that cooled.

maybe the only habitable side would be whatever hemisphere was facing the sun.....but quite possibly the other person is right about gravitational forces being upset, causing general havoc

Half the world would roast, the other half would freeze, and nothing would survive long enough to adapt and continue life.
