My fourth baby was just like that. She is going to be 2 in March and now she still sleeps at least 12 hours at night and a 2-3 hour nap during the day. My ped told me it was fine just as long as she got her daily amount of formula. HE calculated it by her weight of how much she should drink. I did have to wake her up when she was little to make sure she received her daily intake. The only thing that she has done different than my other children is that she walked rolled over late, crawled late, and walked late. Her vocabulary is up to speed for her age. She goes once a month to Physical therapy because her muscles are not that of a 22 month old. But, the PT told me it is probably because she sleeps so much, that she will catch up and will not be behind for long. I enjoy her going to bed by 8 pm so I can get some time to myself. Then she wakes up a few hours later than the other kids, who I have to get up for school, that's nice as well.

My daughter has been pulling 10-11 hour nights from the day she was born. She's now almost 4 still sleeping that much. It is fine, as long as she is getting enough food. You should not let her go for more than 4 hours during the day without eating. She can actually get too weak to eat. I wouldn't worry about it at night. She's probably hitting a growth-spurt. If it really concerns you, of course, see your doc. GL!

Awake for 2-3 hours a day? That's not normal for a 3 month old... I don't know if there's anything to worry about, or if you're just really lucky!!

my son slept all the time too. i had to wake him up most of the time just to nurse him. he is now 3 and guess what?? he still sleeps 10-12 hours at night! if you are really worried then ask her pediatrician at her next visit.

Babies grow when they sleep... so growth spurts and changes in sleep patterns are related. Expect to see some major growth... and a return to her normal sleep patterns.. whenever she's gotten all the sleep she needs.
Don't panic... just mention it to the doctor when you see him. I'm sure it's fine.

YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK YOU PEDIATRICIAN. YOUR BABY IS GOING TO BE DUE FOR HER 4 MONTH WELL CHILD CHECK NEXT MONTH (YOU SHOULD ALREADY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT). AT THIS APPOINTMENT SHE WILL GET SOME SHOTS AND YOU CAN ASK THE DOC ABOUT HER SLEEPING PATTERNS. AS I REMEMBER IT WITH MY DAUGHTER, THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT. ALL THEY DO IS EAT, COO A BIT, USE THE BR, AND SLEEP TONS.
