I don't think there has ever been a whirlpool that has caused any sort of disaster-scale damage to humans. Natural whirlpools are almost always fairly weak and would have a lot of trouble sinking even a small personal watercraft. The vast majority would have little or no effect on a large vessel. As for being a hazard - In order for something to be considered a hazard it must pose a threat to society. In general, whirlpools do not pose a threat to society, so they would not be considered a hazard (for example, an earthquake that does not effect people would not be a hazard). An example of a hazard would be a river if there is a city on its flood plane (eg - parts of St. Louis), or the possibility of an earthquake in a major city (eg - San Francisco, Tokyo, Los Angeles).

The answer to your question is "no".

whirlpool is circular currents of water in a sea or a river and can draw objects into it. its definitely not a natural disaster. more of a water currents.
