In 2005 the most popular boys name was Jacob with nearly 6,300 per 1 million babies (#2 Michael).
For girls the most popular name was Emily with about 5,500 per 1 million babies (#2 Emma)

From the names I have been hearing, James for a boy and still Madison for a girl.

That is a dumb question, because you can never know "the most used names".

However, John and Michael are pretty overused boy's names.
For girls, I'm not too sure, but I do know that too many people use "Marie" as a middle name nowadays. It's so boring, but because it sounds decent with everything, people use it.
