She got her first ultrasound and the doctors said that she was 14 weeks. How accurate is the ultrasound at 14 weeks?

It kinda depends on how early the did the ultrasound. When they do it very early in the pregnancy, they are usually right on. If they did it a little later, say 20 weeks or beyond, they can be a few weeks off.

The reason is that a fetus will develop in a certain order at the beginning, and it's visible to the dr's. They can tell which week you are by wether they can only see a sac, or if there are arm buds, or leg buds. Later on, the baby is pretty much human shaped on the outside, and is working on the inside bits that the docs can't get a look at. So then they have to guess based mostly on the size of the fetus and whether you remember your last period correctly.

Hope that helps!

Pretty accurate, like 90% accurate, as long as the dates you give them are correct. And you have a normal ovulation cycle. Other than that they can be off by 2-3 wks. Ultrasounds done in the first trimester are excellent for measuring a baby's date, have a great accuracy rate. My ultrasound said I was due the 8th, which is the same day my dates gave me. I went almost a week over, but my water started leaking on the 8th, and if my brat didn't have her daddy's big head, she might of came out on her own. Lol! Good luck!

If you had a scan by a specialist (Gyno or Obst) they will be about 99% accurate.

Only off by a few days if any - assuming you have a "regular" 28 day cycle. HOWEVER, the due date is almost always wrong.
