My husband and I are going to Cozumel in March. I have never went swimming in the ocean much less scuba diving. (Got certified in a lake). I am very nervous. Anyone know any good dive spots. Anything I need to watch out for?

Anywhere on the Leeward side is great. Park Chankanaab is a popular place but really there is no bad place to go. Personally I have been to Playa Corona and a place about a mile north of the international peir. Have fun!!!

Cozumel has some of the best diving in the world. It is absolutley beautiful. Anywhere you dive or snorkel will be great. Since you are new to diving avoid the cave dives for now. You will want to do that later, I promise. Contact a few dive shops in your area, they have people that have been there. You are in for an experience of your life time. good luck. One more thing! Go to Bob Marley's while in Cozumel. Take a pic with the Iguana

Watch out for currents. On the west side of cozumel (the side with all the hotels) there is the continental shelf. It drops to around 6000 feet dramatically. There are currents that run down those cliffs. I would say, I you are nervous, do a normal reef dive closer to shore and avoid the "cliff" dives. Even though the cliff dives are very very cool, if you are nervous, you might not like it. When you look behind you, it just goes almost straight down and just turns black...I've been diving all my life and it still kinda turns my stomache when I look at the cliff and realize it goes 6000 feet down.....
Have fun!!! :)

Cozumel is basically one big dive spot. I recommend waiting until you get to your hotel, and ask there. Most Cozumel hotels have a dive shop right there; they'll give lessons and you won't even have to leave the resort.
