I have that same issue. I was told by a friend in order to move, you have to mentally detach yourself from people, places, and things. Once you do that, the things that you were holding onto will loose their appeal. Then you won't have any other choice but to move on.

When something is holding you back, I think it's a sign of unfinished business somewhere. You need to find out what that something is and deal with it before you can finally put it to rest. Shoving it aside in your mind doesn't work, because it lays there like a time bomb waiting for the right trigger to set it off. Deal with it once and for all and move on.

you learn to enjoy life without thinking about it too much. when something`s hurting me, or holding back, i go out, have fun, do things i love to get my mind off it. sure it`ll still hurt once in a whiel when i think about it, but that hurt will only linger around if you let it.

you make a concious decision to let it go. and in it's place, fill it with positives. cliche's: count your blessings, stop and smell the roses. (seriously!) do things that make you feel good: go to church, work out, pamper yourself.
the trick is to replace that negativity with happy, peaceful thoughts and you will get strong enough to move forward

probably just need to get laid. if that's not a likely prospect, find a hobby. if you can't get a hobby, live vicariously through movies, books, or television.
